Alex J. is one of the build captains along with his brother, Riley. It is his second year on the team, and he joined because his friends wanted him to. His favorite part of robotics is building the robot, which is also part of what he’s learned. In his next few years on the team, Alex hopes to learn more about engineering and the skills needed for it. Alex doesn’t have a specific memory that he liked, but he does enjoy participating at competition.
Antony F. is on the spirit sub-team. Antony first joined because he had friends on the team, and now, this year will be his fourth. Antony’s favorite part of robotics is leading the crowd in cheers during competition. When asked if he had anything to add, he said, “Cool, robotics is.”
Ben F. is the business lead on the team. He enjoys robotics because of programming, and would like to learn more. He joined the team because of programming, leadership, and communication. This is Ben’s fourth year on the team, and his favorite memory is the yearly bag ‘n’ tag.
Brianna W. is the team’s junior captain/co-captain. Her favorite thing about robotics is the spirit team and dancing to the music at competition. She likes robotics because she has made many friends. Brianna joined because her sister was in it and she thought it was cool. She has learned about marketing and wants to learn more about build. This is her third year in robotics, but her sixth unofficially because of her sister. She would like to add that ‘bots is cool.
Cassidy W. is the journalism lead as well as the team’s photographer. She has been on the team for two years and has learned a lot about marketing and working as a team. Cassidy hopes to learn more about the process of building the robot. Cassidy joined the team because of her friends that told her about it. Cassidy’s favorite memory from robotics was her first competition, because while it was a little bit overwhelming and confusing, it was extremely fun.
Curtis B. joined the team because he wanted to be a part of the programming sub-team, but he is now a part of the media sub-team. His favorite part of robotics is dancing in the stands at competition. He has learned to use Photoshop and would like to continue to learn more about it. This is Curtis’ second year on the team and his favorite memory from his two years is meeting Dean Kamen (the creator of FIRST) and taking a picture with him.
Dakota K., team battery manager, joined the team because he thinks it’s fun and because he has friends on the team. His favorite thing about robotics is building. He joined the team because he thinks it’s fun and because he has friends on the team. Dakota learned how to build a robot, and he wants to learn how to build an even better robot than the previous one. This is Dakota’s first year on the team.
David A. is part of the electrical sub-team. It is his first year on the team, and he has learned a lot about electrical already – but would still like to learn more about electrical and design. David joined because he is interested in mechanical engineering.
Dawkin E. is the awards lead. He joined the team for learning experience, and is in his second year in robotics. So far, he has learned about the robot process and about business and build. Dawkin would like to learn more about applications, awards and design, and his favorite thing about robotics is the diversity & community of FIRST.
Dylan “Diddo” A. is a part of the media sub-team, and enjoys the competition portion of robotics. Dylan joined robotics three years ago because a friend of his asked him to, and through robotics he’s learned about the difficulties of marketing. He wishes to learn more about graphic design in the future, and most of his favorite memories have come from the road trips to various robotics competitions.
Erik K., team build lead, joined because he had nothing to do. He would like to learn how to cut a semi-straight line in his second year on the team. Erik’s favorite thing about robotics is that it is something to do, and one of his favorite memories is the final push of last year’s build season.
Jackson H. is the lead of the electrical sub-team. Jackson joined the team because he wanted to prepare for a career in engineering, and over his four years on the team, Jackson has learned about working with electronics and the design process. Jackson’s favorite part of robotics is competition.
Jamie L. is both marketing lead and safety lead. She joined the team because of friends, and is now in her second year. Her favorite thing about robotics is the the competitions. Jamie has learned much about marketing and business, but she would like to learn about build as well. Her favorite memory from robotics is everything about it.
Kaleb R. is a part of the build sub-team. He joined robotics because he wanted to meet new people and he wanted to build a robot. Additionally, he joined robotics because he saw a competition and though it would be fun. He has learned how to work as part of a team and he would like to learn more about tools. This is Kaleb’s first year on the team.
Keenan O. is one of the field build sub-team leads, and he controls the sky cam at competitions. He joined the team to be a part of the build sub-team, but then he found that he liked field build better. Keenan has learned about build tools and he would like to continue to learn about other build things. This is his second year on the team and some of his favorite memories are the bus rides to the various competitions
Lee K. is the team’s videographer. Lee joined robotics last year because he is interested in an engineering career. His favorite part of being in robotics is the people who are involved. Through robotics Lee has learned how marketing works and he hopes to learn more about the robot building process. Lee’s favorite moment from robotics was getting to travel to Peoria, Illinois for the team’s second regional competition last year.
Logan E. is on both the build team and spirit team. This is his first year on robotics. In the past he has learned how to drill, but he wants to learn much more. Logan likes robotics because it’s interesting, but he also likes meeting new people and working as a team.
Logan M., of the build sub-team, joined due to his tenure in FIRST Lego League, and enjoys everything about robotics. Logan would like to learn more about programming, and this is his first year on the team.
Matthew “Mini Matt” J. is the lead of the design sub-team. This is Matt’s second year on the team and his favorite part about robotics is building the robot. Matt’s favorite memory from robotics was last year, during final push, where the build team stayed up too late and had a lot of caffeine so that they could put the finishing touches on the robot before time ran out.
Matt K. is the media team lead. Matt joined robotics because he needed something to do, and because he thinks that robotics is better than any physical sport. This year will be his third year on the team. Matt’s favorite part of the robotics season is final push, the last moments before bag n’ tag where everyone is working as fast as they can to finish the robot in time.
Miles K is on the programming sub-team. Miles joined this year because he had friends already on the team that told him about robotics. His favorite thing about robotics is the fact that no matter what you like to do, whether is is programming, building, photography, marketing, etc. there is something you can do for the team. “It is hard to not fit in”
Natalie H. is the rules expert of the build team, joining the team this year because she has friends on the team and because she likes power tools. Natalie’s favorite thing about robotics is the team’s family-like disposition. Natalie wants to learn about programming, and she has already learned how to use a 3D CAD (Computer Aided Design) program. Her favorite memory so far was working the coat check with other team members during the Annual Chamber of Commerce meeting.
Nate S. is a part of the build and media sub-teams. He likes everything about the team and joined because his friends were involved. He learned a lot in robotics, and he would like to learn even more. This is Nate’s second year on the team and his favorite memory from robotics was going to Peoria, Illinois for the team’s second regional competition that year.
Nik M. is programming lead. His favorite memory about robotics is winning an award for programming last year, and this is his third year in FIRST. Nik has learned many things about programming, but would still like to learn more as it’s both the main reason he joined robotics & his favorite thing about robotics.
Riley J. is a build captain along with his brother Alex. Riley’s favorite part about robotics is seeing the completed robot after all of the hard work. He joined Robotics because of friends, and has learned about electric wiring. This is his second year on the team and his favorite memory was competition at the DECC last year.
Taylor J. holds the team’s Senior Captain position, and is currently in her fourth year on the team. Taylor joined because her sister was on the team, and during her time on the team has learned about leadership skills and technology. Her favorite part of robotics is competition, because you get to see not only your own team’s hard work and success, but also the hard work of other teams. Taylor hopes to learn even more about building a robot, and her favorite memory from Robotics was at the team’s second regional competition in Peoria, Illinois last year, when the team’s human player, Matthew “Mini Matt” Johnston, managed to strike a robot on the other side of the field with a pool noodle he threw.
Thaddeus “Thad” B. is a part of the design sub-team. He joined robotics because he would like to have a career in engineering. He would like to have a better understanding of engineering for experience. This is Thad’s first year on the team.
Zak H. is part of both the media and the programming sub-teams. Zak likes socializing with cool people, and would like to learn about coding and welcoming people in his first year in robotics. His favorite memory about robotics is the training.
