The 2015 FIRST Robotics Competition game was revealed to be Recycle Rush today! Denfeld Nation Automation went to the University of Minnesota Duluth to the kickoff event hosted there, where team mentor Lauren Johnson gave a speech, including a poem you can check out here.

Robots must carry and stack totes to score points, and are able to greatly increase the score by topping a tower of totes with a green plastic recycling can. Even more points can be earned by dropping ‘litter’, or foam pool noodles, into the recycling cans.

The biggest change to this years rules was the removal of bumpers on the robot – a seven year requirement, now optional. Another huge change was in the robot size: robots must now fit within a 6′ 6″ (1.98m) high, 2′ 4″ (.71m) wide, and 3′ 6″ (1.06m) long transport configuration, but can expand to any length and width after the start of a match (the maximum height remains). The weight limit remains 120 lbs.
